Dear Nada Surf,

“There comes a time in every girls life when she’s truly got to ask herself…” Do these words repeat themselves in your mind every night as you are trying to drift off to sleep? And then you say to yourself, man if only that song “Popular” had never been written, we might be in a different place right now. But then again, look at you…sure there are more copies of High/Low on used cd shelves than any other cd from 1995. But you guys are doing pretty good. I mean, your bass player cut off those horrible dreads, moving below the dude from the Goo Goo Dolls for the most annoying looking bassist. Plus you guys kind of have a sweet deal on Barsuk, who rescued you from infamy and actually gave you some cred.

Anyway, I feel that you guys qualify for my summer music listening. Particularly because I remember being 16 years old, driving my beige subaru and playing “The Plan” at a ridiculously high volume while delivering dental records to Carmina’s dad.

And aren’t all summers about nostalgia anyway?
