Headlights

Dear Headlights,
I love when I listen to music and it sounds slightly backwards, like it came out 5 years too late. I know that sounds kind of strange (or maybe like an insult), but I think that’s how I view your music: if your album Kill Them with Kindness came out a few years ago, you would be on the front page of Magnet and on tour with Stars.
But it didn’t come out that long ago, and I am glad. Because this makes your music fresh to listen to, after my ears have been scrubbed out with the sound of the lo-fi garagey bands of late, your sound, drenched in reverb, is literally music to my ears.
Also, I saw you recently at Kilby Court with Page France. Drew had told me before that you were the tightest band that he had ever seen. It was true — and that was great to behold. You had such an intense control over your sound. And you were so happy to make music, which was also great, because I was/am happy too.
lots of love,
Rob
Dead Rob and Nathaniel,
I love the way you write your letters and let us read them. Who cares about writing boring music reviews when you can write a band and tell them how much you love them, showing us they’re worth loving too? It’s like sneaking medicine in candy.
Gracias,
April
