The Revolutionary Hydra

Dear The Revolutionary Hydra,

dubnarcotic.jpgYour song just came on my itunes and everytime I hear it, it is such a pleasant suprise.  So, what happened to you guys?  You and I have had a long history, I wrote you a letter in 1998 and you sent me Death Cab’s demo tape, You Can Play These Songs with Chords along with your Left handed scissors incident.  To tell you the truth, I wore out one of those tapes on a trip to England, and I am sorry to say that it wasn’t yours.  And then like a dove you had to let that other band go, while you sat in a house in Bellingham.

Do you get resentful?  Or are you proud everytime you see Benny G. singing “I will follow you into the dark” on a daytime talk show — Rachel Ray.  You know, I don’t think you are all that sad, because you had your run.  You are like me.  You will look back at college and say, “Man that was fun”.  And you will (hopefully) be happy with a family and ocassionally get your band back together to play at the Sunset Tavern and have Chris Walla play bass.  And then your songs will pop up on your itunes and you will exclaim “That was a pretty good song.”
