Low

mp3: Murderer

Dear Low,

LOW1.jpgHow are you doing? I am deciding to write you in letter form rather than in person. I saw you in person recently, last saturday night in Park City, and I would have asked you these questions, but you know, they are kind of difficult to ask directly to your face.

Mainly: how are you doing? No really, how are you? Because I have been a fan for a few years now, and I have delighted in your music. It was beautiful, and most importantly, cryptic. I could spend hours sifting through lyrics, looking for gospel messages — “Two-step” is about marriage, “The Plan” is about just that. But now the messages have become mixed, and interviews in the media point directly to your sickness, and that sickness is evident on songs from your new album, Drums and Guns. the songs are about mostly death, and not really death in that kind of Eric Clapton way, but rather death with your own hands. And when you recently sang songs from the aforementioned album I felt that intensity, that desire to kill in your eyes.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am all about you growing as an artist, and frankly I really like some of the things that you are doing with your music. But I still want to help in any way that I can. I think when we watched you on Saturday, we totally loved it, and yet we all wanted to help. I know happiness isn’t something that could be magically granted, but if I could I would. So good luck with this album — and lets just hope that the next one is a little more upbeat. Not for the sake of the music, but for your sake.

Love you guys, Rob

someone to do your dirty work

Rob, I really appreciate this and you. I think these questions can help save the babies. I wish I could have stopped to talk today and not just because I had to go take a spanish test.
