Hot Snakes

 mp3: Plenty for All

Dear Hot Snakes,

I haven’t heard much news from you in a while and I hope this letter finds you well and kicking ass like you do so well (but in spirit of course).

Lately I’ve been a little preoccupied as I’ve been thinking a lot about the many things I feel like I have missed out on during the last six years or so.  I am discovering a trove of bitter regret and sorrow in my soul because I feel that my youth was robbed of immeashot snakesurable amounts of rock and roll simply because of circumstances relating to my age or geographic isolation, as well as my own indolence and lack of knowledge.

What have I been doing with myself? Certainly I have not been dancing and sweating and singing or getting boldly trashed to the level I should have been, nor did I even know I could. While you were busy reigning mad radness on the masses with the release of Automatic Midnight in 2000, I was completely unaware of it because I was in South America, a continent that effectively vetoed its own badassness through an affinity for wacky accordion rock and prominent use of the cowbell.

I couldn’t even tell you what I was doing in 2002 when you released Suicide Invoice, but obviously it wasn’t very cool. My salvation finally arrived in 2004 with the thorough pants rocking I received when I finally got my mitts on Audit in Progress, probably the only really great thing to happen to me all that year.  Now you are gone, and I will probably never have the pleasure of anticipating another release.

I just wanted to thank you for that album particularly for this song that not only did I have to put on my ipod twice because I have to have it more than once at a time, but has landed on just about every mix tape I have made for the last two years. It destroys me, and I fantasize about what it would be like to see you play this song live for me at my birthday party.  I can think of only one thing that could possibly be wilder or more awesomely out of control than to have a reunited Hot Snakes at my birthday party, and that would be to have HOT SNAKES ON A PLANE!!!!!

Much respect,

Nathaniel.

Buy the music!
